I seriously doubt it was painted last in 1972~! What do you all think? Truck on Ebay that looks nice but... you judge

Hutch 10-04-2003 01:02 AM

That is a good story.
I would not think that GM would change the trim package under warranty just because of fading paint.
To change the entire color would require seat dashpad and whole lot of other pieces.
I have never heard of that happening but it is a nice color combination.
And a sweet truck.

1969 GMC 10-04-2003 01:05 AM

that's definitely a 70's paint job. i think that is BS too, they painted the whole truck (including interior)? And the seat matches too? and a dealership installed 12,000# winch? Maybe 6,000#. Oh well, it looks nice and is going for cheap ($1,997 as of now).

t korinek 10-04-2003 01:18 AM

70 chevy

This was in the Phoenix auto trader, for $12,900, it would be a great buy if it stayed at that e bay price. If any one gets serious about it let me know & I could check it out.

sameyrasmea72 10-04-2003 02:17 AM

That metalic green did fade bad and super fast. If you see an original truck nowadays it looks like silver or even lighter, but I never heard of a trim change because of bad paint.

That is at least the second time it has been on Ebay; a couple days ago the bid was at $9000.00.................this guy knows what he is doing

nu2-72 10-04-2003 08:00 AM

That is the slickest original Chevy truck I have ever seen right down to the Ford lockouts.

The winch was installed new and has never been used.
Hmm. He could have worded that a little better. Was the winch installed when it was new or when the truck was new? It does look like one of the old fashioned "stand-up" winches, so I'm assuming it's as old as the truck. Still a sweet truck, every time I see it, I am liking the 2 tone brown more and more. Too bad no new cars or trucks are painted brown (aside from UPS).

Without a reserve it could sell for less than that I guess, wonder why he didn't sell it for the 9K when he had the chance.

hughnews1 10-04-2003 05:48 PM

hey does anybody know Rudolph Chevy in Phoenix Arizona ????

walker 10-04-2003 07:18 PM

Hughnews, Sorry man Rudoulph Chevy is gone. Haven't heard thier ads for years, just looked in the phone book and they were not there either.

Maximum Overdrive 10-04-2003 08:00 PM

Its always possible for GM to have changed it but without paperwork showing this it does sound a bit far fetched. Maybe looking at the option sheet would tell the story.

nu2-72 10-05-2003 12:28 AM

Wes, Red?

BLACK AND BLUE 67-72 10-05-2003 12:47 AM

I don't understand the brown firewall. Did they pull the motor or cab at the dealership to paint it?

Classic Heartbeat 10-05-2003 12:46 PM

Yes, Red was one of the 3 colors used. Red, yellow, and blue. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

nu2-72 10-05-2003 01:14 PM

1970 Chevrolet used red or blue or yellow?

palallin 10-05-2003 10:03 PM

My '69 has Red. Well, faded to pink

nu2-72 10-06-2003 04:04 PM

palallin, yes on the 69 1/2 ton. This is a 3/4. Blue.
