1986 Cluster Not Working

Hi Gents,
I typically have been over on the '67-'72 section, I've done a couple 4BT K5's. But my "new" family/work truck is a 1986 K30, Crew Cab, Dually, 6.2L, SM465, NP205, etc. It's a completely unmolested truck, the clear coat is peeling, and it has every option in the book (Camper Special).
However, since purchase all of my gauges have stopped working, the speedo works because it's mechanical, and I think the low coolant light works. But everything else is dead. They worked when I purchased the truck, and the only thing that has changed is a buddy of mine suggested putting on a 1-wire alternator, and the superfluous wires are just taped up. Could this be why my gauges aren't working?

Much thanks.

If I am correct, both of these trucks have plug connectors for the dash components, just like my '78 FRANKENTRUCK, and '76 Camaro. I have re-wired my Camaro to eliminate the crappy foil plug. FRANKENTRUCK has not had a problem with dash electrical so far,...
Both of you should check the connection at the "crappy foil plug", tighten as needed, and replace with better connectors when possible.
I can nearly guarantee that that is the source of your problems.
Todd.
