lcm dash

My son bought a lcm bash for his 81 k5 blazer . We had the old one off in minutes . Sadly the lcm had many issues . First the studs on the trim were to short . Ended up using steel nuts .The lcm dash is thicker . One air vent wouldn't fit . It may with longer studs . No new clips included (to retain dash in slots ). . Trying to install very challenging . Shaped way wrong . You must force in with screws . Dash does not sit well . Gap between windshield and dash . This dash is not cheap . Cheaply made . Now we need new dash trim with longer studs . Any thoughts

We've all been there, we order a part from the nice LMC catalog. A few days later you come home from work and find the brown slaves have left a package on your porch. You open the box, those freekin' packing peanuts go everywhere. You find the part and think "WTF is this POS supposed to be?!"

I recently bought a new dash pad made by Cheyenne Pickup Parts (made in USA) http://www.ebay.com/sch/motorhead590...p2047675.l2562. I haven't actually installed it yet to be able to vouch for fit, but it looks and "feels" like good quality. Its another option at least.

I have heard many good reports about these dash pads.

I have the same dash, I had to trim some material from the corners of my plastic trim for it to fit into the insert, then the studs were too short behind like you mentioned.

I ended up turning the nuts that held the trim around, so the flat side is facing out. Looks odd and it barely grabs the studs, but it works. I figure there isn't a lot of pressure pulling on it so it should be fine.

Just wait until to try to install it! Thats where the real frustration begins. After a lot of in/out and trimming material I got it in. The worst fit is around the dash bezel, I ran a screw into the drivers side of the pad to get it to stay flat against the side.

I tried reversing the nuts. Had difficulty tightning the nut . I have got the dash installed. Not at all pleased with the fit . It's installed missing a air vent . Mainly because the studs are too short . The factory dashes almost fall into place . Wonder if lcm new dash trim has longer studs .

I also installed a dash pad from Cheyenne truck last weekend, and it fell into place with zero problems. The color match was good and it lays very smooth across the top. As with any pad, the fit around the bezel is ok but not perfect.
