Do you save your rusted fenders?

My painter guy repaired the rust holes in my original fender (driver's side) by using cut outs from a 1968 Buick Skylark fender.

So I've decided to save my passenger side outer fender for sure, the one with the bad frontal rust ("rot") as I want to learn how to do welded body repairs. My front inner fenders are pretty bad but I may try and save those too.

Do you save your rusted fenders?

I only scrap what can't be repaired within reason... like mashed up or so rotted it will rust somewhere else after I fix it. There are patch panels made for fenders for saving them. Inner fenders I just scrapped. They needed the spots that normally rust fixed. It's not worth it to me since repros are just as good as OEM and cheap. Also, these had undercoat on them, so no thank you. Let that add to the weight rather than deal with all that melting and burning crap. I also scrapped a '67 fender that had a half dozen cuts taken out of it from the wheel arch to hood mounting. I spent that fender well.

Once you price a sheet of 19 guage sheetmetal, you'll be glad you saved a used piece you can get patches from!
I keep an old hood, door and fender around for that special curve I may need.
I have several old classics in some form of repair and enjoy metal work,so the used metal comes in handy.

I save everything I take off. Sometimes just for reference. Even the rotted bed wood. I know a guy that uses them for art projects......

My dad is like that. He often forgets what he has though..........

Once I get the truck to the "mobile stage" I can clean up my garage, rewire, and floor the attic. I want to build a lift so I can easily get some things up there. That will be a game changer for storage! I don't want too much weight up there, but fenders would be a good thing to put up there.
