Dealer Emblems and Stickers
Once as many of you know it was common for a selling dealer to add a cast emblem or quality license plate frame promoting their dealership. In later years stickers became more common as a cheaper alternative. Later yet this devolved to plastic emblems.
In an effort to preserve and database these emblems and stickers I'd like to ask everyone who can to share their plates, frames and stickers as well as those they may see. However I do ask we try and limit this to 67-72 Chevys and GMCs. Also please be sure to tell us the year truck its on along with the dealer info to help searches. |

Here's what was on my when the truck was new. I usually hate any dealer advertising on my vehicles and promptly remove it. After all, they are not paying me to be a billboard. I threw this away sometime in the 70s. Wish I had it now though. The truck was purchased from Barton's Chevrolet in Yorba Linda, California.
The plate frame says "Yorba Linda" at the top and "Barton's" at the bottom with a bowtie at each end. The paper plate says "Where the PRICE is LESS and the SERVICE is BEST". JIM EDIT: Added second pic zoomed closer. |
Re: Dealer Emblems and Stickers
I have some, but they are no longer on trucks. I have that Hicks Bros. one. I still see dealers putting their name on new cars. I requested that the dealer put nothing on my '92 when it came in. In a way it would have been cool on there since it would have said "Ideal GMC"

Re: Dealer Emblems and Stickers
Great replies guys, Thanks!
However I must ask you to please take the time to edit your posts where applicable and add the dealer name and location as stated on the emblem/sticker/frame. In that way they become a searchable resource. Emblems and frames don't have to be on a truck to post here as long as you know the year with reasonble certainty. Plus if you read between the lines a little, Chevy car emblems or a multi line emblem such as a Pontiac-GMC are welcome additions as long as the dealer sold trucks too. |

As a probable, here is a 72 triple blue (558) Custom/20 Longhorn with a build sheet and documentation showing it was sold new by...
Dick GRIHLAVA (Chevrolet) El Cajon (CA) Through a search I found this picture and believe it to be correct for a 72. |

Re: Dealer Emblems and Stickers
A sticker I'd really like to see is:
Pat Knight Chevrolet Victorville California. Apparently they were open under that name from 70-74. My 72 Custom/10 had a sticker shadow on the upper left tailgate. We were never able to take a good picture of it. As I recall, it was a stylized jousting knight astride a horse and the dealer name and address in white. So if someone has a legible sticker, please make the effort to post a picture. |
