1972 Blazer Frame Options

Hi, I'm new to this forum and happy to be here. A few days ago a buddy got a rusty Connecticut 1972 K5, it has a 307, 4-speed manual and a 4X4. It's pretty rusty to the point it could be either parts or repair and we decided to repair it. I'm gonna attach a video if anyone wants to look at it. Anyways, this is my buddy's dream vehicle and he has been wanting for the past 20+ years and he finally got this K5 basically for free. The frame is rusty to the point on the frame lip we could flex it by hand so, we're gonna need a new frame. Like I said this is a 72 K5, what options do we have as far frame swaps? Is it limited to just 68-72 K5 or do other year/vehicle type frame be of use to us? Or....does anyone have a frame for sale in the Connecticut / surrounding area? Any advice / help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Gene

Re: 1972 Blazer Frame Options

A 1969-1972 4x4 Blazer frame or a 1970-1972 4x4 Jimmy frame are going to best your best bets.
1969 was the first year for Blazers, and 1970 for Jimmys. A 2wd Blazer/Jimmy frame will be different.
There are frames out there for sale fairly regularly. Keep your eyes open and you will find one. Watch the parts board here too.

Here is one being parted in NY: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=717604
Here was a frame in FL: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=682203
Here was a whole Blazer that sold in CO for $400: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=717107

The point is, they are out there.
