Driveshaft phasing, is this right?

2 Attachment(s)
Hi guys I've been working away on fixing all the PO orginal work and am coming to the driveshaft.

I am installing a 10bolt rear end, and my truck has a 2pc driveshaft. I know I am going to have to get a driveshaft made because the second shaft is waaaay to short. However, the first driveshaft should be original and fits to the cross member fine, but the phasing looks waaaay off from what I've been reading online. So I want to know is this normal for our 2pc driveshafts on this truck? Or did the PO do something/cut or install a different one to accommodate the SBC350 and TH350?? Whats the original dia of the driveshaft suppose to be?? I haven't measured the first one but the second is 3".

Yep your front driveshaft is off ..in the 2nd pic the first section the yokes need to be in line ( its about 90 out) as well as the rear section when you get it fixed..my front and rear sections are both 3" dia tube..watch this video..on towards the end it shows what happens when the driveline is out of phase...https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Idk3BVDVHq4

Re: Driveshaft phasing, is this right?

Thanks. I watched the video pretty neat. Well I did some digging and found that the yoke at the end with the bearing could come off and has splines - makes sense in order to change the carrier. So I removed it and re installed it the correct way to be inline with the other end. One problem down haha. I'm now trying to position the rear end at the right angle so I can measure for a new second half driveshaft. My transmission is 2* down, the first driveshaft is 1* down, so it would seem I have to adjust the rear end 1*up from what I've read and seen. Does that sound correct?
