Can a 4wd 4spd manual CONVERT to a 2wd

So I want to do the 2wd conversion on a 4wd 4spd manual transmission . I know you have to move the drivetrain forward ,so would this interfere with the shifter?
Or is there still plenty of clearance ?
Thanks

Yes they can, and there is plenty of build threads here on them

Your whole drive train is going to start with the front cross member from a 2wd truck, everything else is questionable. The 4 speed needs to have a slip yoke, 4x4 to 2wd conversion means your going to use the frame and the body from the blazer, just about everything else is different, a donor 2wd truck is ideal.

Poor man's conversion = remove front drive shaft:)

My goal would be to achieve a lower stance .

Ok my main question is if I keep my current drivetrain and manual trans . When the engine is moved up and forward .....will the shift still fit or be modified to fit in the cab.

Absolutely it will work. It worked that way in 2wd pickups from the factory, so it's realistic to think you can make it work in your Blazer.

The tunnel cover will have to be modified/replaced to allow for the tranny shifter hole to move forward the same amount that you are shifting the driveline forward. This will also require the use of a tranny shifter for the two-wheel drive application, which has two bends in it to clear the underside of the dash. The four-wheel drive shifters only have a single bend in them, and will hit the dash if you use it after you move the driveline forward.

You don't have to move your engine forward. There are MANY on here that have converted to a V8, and run their engines in the back position. I had a 69 GMC 2wd that had the 350 in the back position.

So many don't move the engine at all or just don't move it forward ?
Thanks guys

That's the same thing. There are 2 factory positions. The back position which is where the factory mounted to 4x4 v8's and the I6's and the forward position where the factory mounted the 2wd V8'sit the 6 cylinder position.
I can't tell you which position the factory mounted the V6's and big blocks in.
I would say that a good portion of people who swap from I6 to a small block leave their engine back there, like the 4x4'so were. Maybe half? Of course that's just a guess.

Where at in MI are you? "Central Michigan" sounds close to me.
