Key Question
I'm bringing a '64 home tomorrow. The former owner can't locate the key(s) and it's been so long since this truck has moved he can't remember if the ignition, doors and glove box were keyed alike or not. I'm new to these trucks and don't know myself, so were they keyed alike or the square key/round key deal from the factory?

Re: Key Question
It's not very hard to re-key everything to use the same key if you're willing to take the handles off etc. You could also pop everything out and see if LockDoc here on the forum would key things for you. I did it myself w/ some lock wafers he sent me and it was pretty easy. Just gotta be careful not to break the tabs or mangle the springs.

Re: Key Question

Usualy you take the number off the glove box lock and they can cut you a key undernieth the dash reach up and pull down the top of the cardboard box (glovebox use a phillup screw driver two screws will undo the GB lock . the ignition to start run the truck just pull the harness off the back of ignition two wires one power the ignition other jump starter . . . . |
Re: Key Question
So it sounds like I should be able to check the numbers on the glove box and ignition locks and hope that they match up.
Thanks! |
Re: Key Question
I believe that LockDoc has posted a how to on here with pics of the lock tumbler numbers. Have a search, it will help.
