Brake Line Questions - 70 or 71?

Currently building my truck back up, now I'm at the point of brakes.
Ive got a CPP 12in 2.5in drop kit on the way, with stock rear drums, so I will probably run a '71 Master Cylinder (since its disc drum for that year).

So would I order the 71 brake line kit from CPP or POL or do I order the 70 still? I'm under the impression my proportioning valve tube routing may be different, as well as the routing to the master.

What do you guys recommend? I'm on a tight budget but want the brakes done right so I want to get them good the first time instead of blowing a line due to poor bends!

Re: Brake Line Questions - 70 or 71?

if running disks and drums, you need a disk and drum mc (so yes, a 71 or 72 will work), and, ideally, proper sized lines. 3/16" lines to the front disks and 1/4" lines to the rear drums. It would work with all 1/4" lines like your 70 was born with, but not the factory solution - so, since you're ordering new, order the 71/72 set. Since it sounds like you're ordering a custom brake solution and are ordering lines from CPP or POL, might as well order the correct disk/drum mc (and a prop valve) from them as well. Factory only had a distribution block but since you have a somewhat custom arrangement, the prop valve (or, probably more appropriately, a "combination valve") will give you the most tunability.

Just checked on CPP, POL, Classic Parts, and LMC and theres only options for 67-70 prebent brake lines. So I suppose I should just order the 70 set then.

Well, not necessarily. Try Inline Tube, they are good quality. Or bending your own is certainly an option. But there are absolutely options out there for 71-72 pre-bent lines.
