I found this one on CL the other day. Original owner, pretty much bone stock. Needs A LOT of cleaning and a little (I hope) mechanical work. Turned the key and it fired right off. It was well worth the 12 hour round trip!

Re: 1973 Blazer survivor

Thanks! I've been looking for almost a year for a clean 73-75. I own another one, a 74 Jimmy that requires a tetanus booster if you want to ride in it. I'll be parting that one out here later. I grew fond of the square body verts back in the 90's. This will be my 4th and is the best one yet. They are getting hard to find in my neck of the woods! I practically gave my last nice one away 10 years ago to a guy who answered my CL ad with a pocket full on hundreds. I have kicked myself ever since. This one really deserves a frame off restore but I don't have the skills or the $$ right now. Since I rolled it into the garage, I've discovered a couple rust holes in the floor pans about the size of a quarter, there is rust on the battery tray and under the tray on the core support and both front fenders have started to hole through at the bottom. I have replaced the upper bearings in the steering column and now I need to address the transmission leak on the accumulator cover then I should be able to drive it to the muffler shop to fix the crushed exhaust pipe. I've practically taken over the entire garage with this project, much to the chagrin of my wife who's minivan now gets parked outside in the rain!

No back seat?

Unfortunately no back seat, belts, or spare tire holder. I'll have to use the back seat from my Jimmy for now. I can get it recovered when I do the repair on the drivers seat.

That's a great start! A little cleanup and you can drive it. Once you really want to tear into it you can, but there is no hurry. Heck you can take care of those rust holes and keep it drivable.

The drivers door has started to clean up nice. I also pulled out a ton of brass packed down the cowl, I'm guessing from 40+ years of laying the rifle on the hood and knocking down coyotes.
