65 bagged farm truck

I am a little late for starting this thread but better late than never. I started this project about a year ago. i was given my great grandpas 65 farm truck that they bought new in 65. The body is pretty beat but it has no rust on it.I decided to leave the body as is and do the chassis nice and leave the body as is. I have copied a couple of builds that i found on this site so i thought i would share some of my build.. Her are a few picture of my progress so far

I live up in Canada. With the exchange rate the way it is rite now and shipping i decided to buy a sheet of metal and a plasma cutter. I fabricated all of my step notches bag plates and many other items on the truck myself.

Damn man those are some nice skills, I love the style you are going with here! Looks just great. I am in British Columbia and I know your pain about buying American stuff with the exchange rate plus shipping, that's why I build almost all my stuff as well. I'm subscribed

Started going through some pictures on my phone and found some of the day that I pulled the truck out of the barn. My great grandma is in her late 90's. When we were pulling it out of the shed she said to my mom that she remembered buying the truck brand new on march 26th 1965. About an hour later my uncle came over with some paper work and confirmed that it was indeed the date they bought it. I hope that my memory is that sharp when i am older. The truck was used as a driver for about 10 years and then was used as a work horse around the farm for many years after that until it was parked in the shed.Attachment 1583484

Finally am almost done the fab work on the front clip. It ended up taking a bit longer then expected. I am hoping by the end of the weekend that it will be ready to be taken apart and prepped for paint. Also hoping that the motor will be going in in the next couple of weeks

Lookin good ... tell me more about those gas struts. I just finished installing hinges and will be mounting hood brackets today. Is there a particular strut you used?
