First Project - 69 SWB

I would like to start out by saying hello. This my first post and no better way to start. I have lurked here for sometime looking at everyones builds. I have always wanted a 67-72 C10 but never pulled the trigger because I didnt think I had the time to build one. Well I decided to make time finally. Plus my wife and I want something to cruise around in on the weekends since the kids are old enough that they are usually either working or with their friends.

I started looking for a truck about a month ago searching CL daily with in a 5 hour radius of Southwest Missouri. My requirements were shortbed, not much rust, no drivetrain, and a decent price. I know that was a tall order but after a month I got lucky and found the truck I was looking for. Its a 69 shortbed with AC cab, power steering, power brake, and five lug conversion. The doors are probably not salvagable but the rest of the truck is pretty decent. Has a small amount of rust in the upper corners of the firewall, a small spot in the floor pan on the passengers side, a couple of the cab mounts need a little work, and the inner rockers.

Below are my plans for the truck.
4/6 drop with C-notch
LS swap with 6.0 LQ4 and 4L80E
Disc brakes all corners
Front/Rear sway bars
Ruby Red Metallic paint

Here are some pics of her in the shop waiting for the work to start. My dog jumped in the back in the first pic and wanted to go for a ride. I am going to start the tear down this weekend and order the suspension parts. I pick up the engine/trans next week.

I didn't get anything done on the truck this weekend. I ordered some parts and went by a friends place that owns a wrecker service. He has 6 wrecked 67-72 trucks at his yard. I ended up finding a set of decent doors, inner fender, and gas pedal since mine is missing. I also scored a nice craigslist find this morning. A guy had just posted a 60 gallon / 5HP upright Campbell Hausfeld compressor for $200. I jumped on it first thing. It will be nice replacement for my 13 gallon horizontal.

Hope you're making more headway than I am lately.

Aaron I am making some progress. I have a huge pile of parts ready to be installed. I finally got the frame coated last night. I used the KBS frame coating kit. Between stripping the frame to bare metal and coating it I have almost a week of evenings in it. I have atleast reached the point of starting to put it back together.

Here are a couple of pictures. I picked up an LQ4 / 4L80E combo also.
