Hello from Missouri
 

I keep finding this forum when googling stuff about my newly purchased '68 1/2 ton.

During my drive home I kept thinking how much more awesome the truck would be if it had power disc brakes. I don't know if the old drums just need serviced or what, but they suck.

I've seen a few threads here where people have mentioned swapping out the old closed knuckle front axle for newer ones with disc brakes. I'm still reading up on that but if anyone has any advice on what to look for when shopping for new axles, Id love to hear it.

ETA: Also if anyone has any advice on where to find a new pass side door handle, or parts for it, I'm in need of that as well.

I saw that truck on craigslist, it caught my eye. Fulton, MO right? That is just one town over from me. Welcome to the site.

Yep, that's the one.

It's got a so-so paint job on it but it appears to be mostly rust free. My last 2 K10's died early deaths from rust (up in AK). I'm good with mechanical stuff but I absolutely hate and suck at bodywork.
