American Made Mechanical Fuel Pump
So having made the switch back to a mechanical pump from an electric pump, which was causing all sorts of problems, now the mechanical pump has issues.
In my search for an American made pump, I read somewhere the CarQuest pumps are American made, not so. It's actually an Airtex pump made in china. I'm currently on pump number two, after 15 days of use from pump number one, leaking fuel from the upper and lower diaphragm mating surfaces. So, Carter pumps are made in Korea, which I've heard is a good thing, as are the ones made in Mexico (AC Delco?). Does anyone here have thoughts on a good reliable brand? |
Re: American Made Mechanical Fuel Pump
Edelbbrock #1721. Made in the USA, gives me the 6 psi I need for my EDL carb.
But it was is pricey. Had it on for a year or so works perfect. |
Re: American Made Mechanical Fuel Pump
I have been buying Carquest fuel pumps and they last a few years. They are lifetime warranty so I keep bringing them back when they die and they keep giving me new ones. I wouldn't mind having a pump that would last longer but Carquest is only 3 miles from my house and I can change fuel pumps in 10-15 minutes.

I've had good luck with O'reilly pumps. They are Precision brand, don't know where they are made though.
