I like the looks of yours. What came with mine was the oak boards but it had a clear coat of some kind that after sitting outside off and on has lost it's finish on the edges, bolt holes etc. It spends most of the time in the shop . If I take it out to refinish it I think I will go the black route. When the oak had the fresh clear on it I would get alot of compliments. One time I came out of a store and a guy was standing there and said that the bed wood looked better then his kitchen floor. If it could stay that way would be nice but I think the rain and even just the sunlight breaks down the clear coat. |
Re: new Bed wood kit
I believe all the bed wood comes unfinished. I did the black on mine as well just like Mar-K instructed

Re: new Bed wood kit
On my truck the bed was apart, thus the bumper was off. The wood can be changed with the bumper on.

Re: new Bed wood kit
I have a Mar-K oak set and stainless strips sitting in my garage to be installed
Will probably start it next month when i get some weekend time to coat the wood (been reading various articles - some say 2 coats, some say 5 coats etc), will see how I go when I install. Can't wait, going to transform it so much, as the wood in there at the mo is crappy |
Re: new Bed wood kit
We did one coat of stain three coats of sealer and 3 coats of clear coat
