LS engine reference book

Could someone suggest a good book , or books concerning the LS engines ? Something that would cover how to Identify what is what .
source of these engines, for example , what vehicles had which engines ,
which engines are most desirable and why,,
horsepower and torque specs,, etc.

I've been around the 60's and 70's SBC and BBC engines for a good long time but ,, I'm kind of in the dark on the newer generation engines.

Any and all help is appreciated !

Thank You ! Tom

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving !!!

Re: LS engine reference book

Along with the engines, changed the way we research them. While there are some books out there on things like building the engines, or the factory service manual, none of them include abstracts or chronologies like a encyclopedia sorta would.

Your best bet is to break your searches into chunks. You can easily located things like engine codes and make/model online, and because there are so many submodels which update each season, the web will have the most current info.

The rest, well, thats what we have the forum for.
If you want tech stuff, get a copy of the factory service manual for the engine in question. I have one for my lq4/lq9's, but they are available for any of them from GM (and online in PDF).
