Work Light Question

I've been looking for some relatively inexpensive work lights, because I don't have enough light in my garage for welding once it gets dark outside.

I've looked at HF, Lowes, Home Depot, and Amazon, and all of the lights I find in the less-than-$100 range seem to be pretty flimsy. Has anyone had good luck finding inexpensive work lights that last?

Re: Work Light Question

Check with a commercial lighting company and see if they have some they are closing out on ,the Home Depot and Lowes ones suck .

eBay at about $26 each. Very energy efficient and less power consumption than any fluorescent lights.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I'm looking for portable work lights. I have pretty good fluorescent lights on the ceiling, and I'll eventually replace those with LEDs, but I sometimes need additional light in certain spots.

Does Costco have them in-store or online? Do you know how much they cost?

I went to Costco yesterday and bought two of them. They're very bright and I like how white the light is. $29.99 each at Costco.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: Work Light Question

OK, so a couple of weeks later I thought I'd come back and tell you about the Snap-On lights. First, the down side - they're actually made by Alltrade, so we'll see how they hold up. But so far I love them. They're very light, they don't get hot, and they put out very bright white light. I can see my work piece through my welding helmet great with them. I definitely recommend them.

As a side note, I also picked up some LED strip lights to replace some of my fluorescent lights. They're brighter and they work well in my unheated garage - no warmup time needed.

I picked up a similar unit like this the other day the one I got was 1200 lumens for $14.00 thought I would try it out and see holy crap this little basturd puts out some light ,and it don't burn like my halogen does. Small and compact I can set it on the floorboard and aim it under the dash or hang it on the wall and light up the room.

I ordered this light from Amazon and I am impressed with the amount of light it puts out.

Here is a comparison of under dash.

I just got the Eastwood LED work light and I am a happy camper. It folds up and you can stand it up on end. It attaches to the hood, work under the dash etc. And it's cordless. Has two intensities, on and really bright.

Re: Work Light Question

I used this for my first conversion from incandescent to LED. They still sell them at some Sears stores. Pretty cheap. https://www.amazon.com/Alert-Stampin.../dp/B004LKRPAS

I would never go back to incandescent, fluorescent or halogen. LED is the only way.

The LED products are getting better everyday. I have the CAT LED from Costco also. Instructables has many ideas to build your own. This will be my next project. http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-...nd-Work-Light/
