Probably should have been a "How many don't remember..." thread

It's so sad and I always wonder if the people (or person) made it.

I've never seen that picture before, but my guess would have been Mount St. Helens.

Thinking the same. Out on a camping/fishing trip and that happens. Wow. Must have been surreal for the chopper pilot having to check out the truck.

I remember that day well. I live about 280 to 300 miles east of Mt. Saint Helens. It got real dark in the early afternoon the day it blew its top and you just knew something was up. There was so much ash falling. Years later you could still find traces of ash around Spokane. I remember seeing the devastation on the news. Some people didn't have a chance and a few refused to leave the area. Here is a before and after pic.

I remember seeing Mt. St. Helens from where I lived before it blew its top. And I remember the ash falling down and getting everywhere.

It's still worth the visit if you're in the area... even 36 years later there's a ton of devastation but lots of fresh growth up within it too.

I remember it well, Watched St Helens, blow from my roof top, Drove down the next year to check it out, what a sight!
Even after many years it is still a sight to see.

The first three pictures were taken the spring of 1981
The rest were take in 2005

I woke up a few days later in the Texas Panhandle to find gritty volcanic ash all over my car which was sitting in the driveway. What a powerful event!
