swaping upper a arms from side to side?

has anyone here actually done that?
in reading a couple of different post here, i read where several forum members have redrilled the locating pin holes for the lower arms to move the lower ball joint pivot point forward. I think i read that someone had swappped arms from one side to the other to carry that mod even further. can anyone who has tried this, tell me if it was a beneficial modification.
specifically, was the handling improved, did street drivability suffer.
Did it make aligning the front suspension difficult or impossible?
i have my entire front suspension on the ground and am about to put it back together. i would like your input. i already plan to do the lower a arm shaft modification. i am going to move it only .5 inch though. i thought that if this is a good mod to make , i will do this as i put it together. I just dont want to do it then have to undo it. thanks , Tony my truck is not lowered by the way, and i dont intend to lower it at all.

Swapping arms moves the tire further back in the fender well and creates way too much caster. I think BMRDOC did this and he has access to alignment stuff at his work and he said it was no good.
