CJ project

Acquired a CJ7 project back in March and just completed a frame off, actually frame and tub replacement. This is a 78 with a 304, 3 speed manual, 6" lift and 35" rubber. Been a fun little project.

Looks great! Did you use a factory YJ family style roll bar and cut the bars that go to the windshield off? Or did you build your own rollbar?

Thanks! Yep, family style roll bar and I did use the bars that run forward, mounted them to the windshield frame. It's nice to put the kids in the back with shoulder belts. Don't like the looks of it as much as the late CJ roll bar but it is safer.

If you get a chance sometime, could you post a pic of where the bar meets the window frame. I'd like to see how you mounted them to the windshield. I've been kicking around putting a family bar on mine. I agree that they don't look as good, but my wife cringes when my son rides in the back with just a lap belt. And honestly, I do too a little.
As far as what one to drive, I love my c-10, but a Jeep with the top off on a backroad is unbeatable.
