Attaching Angle Strips on a Stepside 64 C-10
2 Attachment(s)
Ok so it is a week until Christmas and we are finally ready to rip into our bed of our truck. You will see in the pictures below that someone before us has welded in some angle iron instead of the angle strips that belong there. I am wondering how everyone else has gone about replacing and attaching the angle strips to the side panels of the truck bed. Any advise or information would be greatly appreciated.

There are spot weld holes on the outside of the bed. You will have to cut a hole and weld the bed from the outside. Not very detailed pics but you can see the outside of the bed where the holes are. I used the rear bold /fender brace hole to get the right height and spacing before I welded it in. I hope this helps a little.

The angle strips can be bolted on but I prefer to spot weld like they were originally. It takes planning and effort. I used a MIG welder and Cleco fasteners. The fasteners hold the pieces together so it's less likely to move.
Took a couple hours to finish. Drill, drill and drill some more. Then weld. Then grind your plug welds. |

Thanks guys for this information. It took a bit of searching to find this but great info. Do you drill these spot welds out like you would for rockers?

Yes, that is what I was thinking, spot weld cutter. Thank you for the info.

For the life of me, I cannot see the spot welds on the outside of the bed wall. Were they readily obvious on your bed walls?
