366 bbc tall deck question / help info
 

so I have a truck with the 366 tall deck and air brakes with engine driven AND cooled air compressor .

there is a huge price difference on the reman engine market for the 2 different engines with and with out the engine cooled pump .

anyone tell me whats so different ?

That makes no sense. It's an accessory that bolts on, so how could anything be different?

2 totally different part #s

and reman place that had a good deal said they don't even do the water cooled compressor option motor anymore.

few other places show them but there is specifics in the description with or with out option.

they even want casting # for crank/block/left/right heads verified.

when this thing gets to my shop I will see if it even runs anymore . and maybe tear down the engine and if no major damage send the block / heads out to see if cracks with mag/flux check then if good get a master re-fresh kit and roll the dice .

she had lots of water in the cooling system I can tell via the rust staining were she blew a hose out and leaked water/coolent all over . and its sat threw at least 1 winter now and who knows if block/heads cracked if its all water left in there.

If a lot of water drained out then any that froze had somewhere to go. I'd say see if it runs and go from there....I didn't get a chance to go to Lantz's, sitter backed out on me, so stuck home watching the kid.

Trying to fix what you have would be a good idea.

You can always draw the line and go to Plan B anytime.
