Eddy 1406 on stock intake?
is anybody here running an Eddy 1406 on a stock QJet intake? just wondering if it will line up correctly.
|
I am. The answer is no. You need an adaptor because the Eddy is a square bore carb. Since the base is different the alignment of the TV cable and throttle linkages are also slightly misaligned. You should consider getting the Eddy intake bracket to correct the geometry of the cables.
Oh, I use a four swirl hole 1" adaptor spacer. Works greats to increase low end torque. |
crap. if im going to have to buy an adaper, i might as well go ahead and spend the extra mony and buy a new intake. looks like ol' Vic will be getting more of my money than i expected.

An open center adaptor is like $14 at a parts store.....a 4 hole would be better, but they cost twice as much. Either way, cheaper than a new intake.

1406 / intake
We have a 69 gmc (duh) and what I did suprised people. I took an angle grinder to a 1985 350 manifold (q 4V) and opened up the holes to match each other(10 minutes). I also used an open spacer to improve response in our 307. The only glitch is to use thick gaskets on both mating surfaces and you will need slightly longer bolts to accomplish this feat. Works sooo very well!!!
