Looking for an 77-79 Grille for my '79, not really liking the look of the Billet grille on it now. These are really hard to find but I just can't throw down $600 for one....yiikes!
Anybody know who sells the aftermarket grille with the Emblem? LMC and Brothers have no provision for the emblem. :help:

Thanks,
Mark

Have you considered doing the 73/74 grille swap? GM restoration parts endorses the grille and includes the emblem.

If interested here's a thread regarding the swap

I'm about to do mine. The center brace and corner brackets are available aftermarket as well.

No one sells the grill with the Bowtie provision. The ONLY grill offered with the emblem is the 73-74. I have one in my 77 and it is truly better than the factory grill.

After pretty much losing sleep over it last night I decided to go with the 73-74 Grille. :-)
Looking at your truck as well as a few others I was totally sold. I found the grille, all the correct brackets and trim on Ebay.
I'll post pics at a later date once installed.

Thanks again everybody!

Mark

seeing as how your truck is customized and not all original, you made the right choice.

The grill can be found at junkyards. I have scored a few over the years. The molding is tougher.
Check these guys. I have bought stuff from them and been satisfied.

They want 450 for nos.

Only in black. Also a few times I have called them for NOS and they don't stock it anymore.

I thought this was a reproduction grille sold through parts stores, like it was just a couple of years ago it came out....did they stop making them already?

It is a reproduction grille manufactured by KeyParts licensed by GM Restorations Parts.

Anyone know when they will start making 75+ grills with the bowtie emblem? Would love to buy a 81 grille with the emblem like the 73-74 grills. I know they make the one without it.

Re: 77-79 Grille, Hard to find---Ebay $600.00?!

The days of finding a perfect junkyard grill is pretty much gone. I think the 75-up grills are much too complex and relative low demand for there to be an aftermarket version imo. Then you have the impossible to find GMC grills too-they are much tougher to find and not likely to ever be offered as a repro. My advice is if/when you find an NOS grill you better grab it because they only get harder to find.

I was helping my neighbor clean out his garage after a small fire. He was handing stuff down to me from the attic. And he handed me this. My eyes lit up. He said I could have it. The kicker is. It was off his van. He swapped it out for a custom grill on his 78 van when he bought it new.

Vans always make nice donors for grills since they never see the abuse a truck does....and personally I see no problem skinning a van for parts.
