67-72 NOS tailgate with NOS trim
 

SOLD SOLDYou are looking at a new GM takeoff original paint tailgate that was removed at the GM dealership in 1972 from a 72 cheyenne super. It was removed to install a camper and was put up stairs in dry dark storage under a blanket and has been stored there until just recently. It is complete as it was removed, but the latches and handle have been removed but the trim on the gate is very nice and looks new. The only thing wrong with the gate is the molding on the right driver side has a small push wave NOT a dent. As for the metal it is like new with no dents or damage of any kind. The tail gate weighs just under 50 pounds not a light piece of junk like the aftermarket ones. Nice original Cheyenne tailgates is tough to get. Ask me, it took me 6 months of hard looking, lots o $$$s and shipment all the way across the USA.

Good copy the "handle has been removed".

Does the handle with stainless cover come with the gate or is it missing?

I have had a few but its amazing how many people are wanting just the panel for 5-6 hundred but i dont want to split them up in case i end up using it o my own projects.

The handle was missing when i bought it and the guy could not remember it being removed so someone may have some explaining to do.

it still amazes me when one of these pop up after 45+ years. i still have an original black and white take off gate given to me by a customer at the shop i work in many many years ago-you read it correctly, he gave it to me!!!!!

I'm pretty sure that is the one I bought in Dallas off Craigslist for $200 a few years ago. IMO worth the asking price.

if it ever goes anywhere you will have first shot at it. i haven't even looked at it for several years, it's way in the back of my shop.. i went out to help a farmer friend of mine with an a-c problem on his stack retriever last summer and he has a take off gate with the woodgrain trim. i tried talking him out of it but he wouldn't budge-it has sentimental value, it is off his deceased brother's truck. he doesn't have the truck anymore either.

I would just like to find a descent tailgate. Mine is bowed badly, dented everywhere and rusty. Haven't seen a good one around my way for years.
