GMT 400 body style
 

Having a discussion with some people about which models changed to the new body style in 88 and which did not.
What I thought was that Blazer, Suburban and all C/K 30 or C/K 3500 kept the old body style until 91.

I looked in to it a little more and it seems like it was only the crew cab pickups that kept the old body style (and Blazer, Suburban) but all other pickup versions got the new body style. Maybe also the reg cab and chassis trucks kept the old body style to 91.

Some say certain plants outside US kept producing the old body style longer than the US plants.

I thought I should ask on a place where I know there are a lot knowledgeable people around.

Sorry if this has been discussed before, did some searches but couldn´t find an answer.

Here in the states all regular cab pickups went to the new style in '88, except for dual rear pickups. Those went for one more year. The regular cab cab & chassis models were continued through '89, so two wheel bases both longer than a pickup. Blazer/Jimmys, Suburbans, and crew cabs were produced through '91.

I know in Mexico the square body style continued beyond this. Many other parts of the trucks changed, such as seats and the bed appearance. I also think those were all shortbed 1/2t (although called a 20). At least that's all I've seen

special-K, I was thinking you would answer this, thank you for doing so.

The discussion started with a pic of a square body K30 reg cab long pickup bed single rear wheel truck which was supposed to show an 88 model year truck.
Some said it is an 87 or older and others (including me) said it could very well be an 88-91 if it was a true K30 or K3500.

Guess I was wrong, learning something every day.

You could get regular and extended cab dually pickups in the GMT400 bodystyle starting with the '88 model year.
