What is this truck worth?
My buddy is looking at this truck talked to the owner and he said he would take $1500 for it, I told him there is way to much rust for a California truck and that is too much money. I would say about $800 if he smogged it. He would be using it as a offroad project and not a restoration.

Re: What is this truck worth?
Personally, I'd have to really want that truck to pay even $800 for it. I'd probably be @ 600, since you can't verify that the front axle works as a drive axle. But then again, I'm not in the market for one.

This is funny, I was actually looking at this truck as well. It looks pretty rough to me. If you can get it cheap enough its worth it.

Re: What is this truck worth?
Here in OK where these trucks are still in common use as daily driver work trucks, one that moves under its own power without leaving an oil slick or smoke screen usually prices out between $1000 and $2000 starting. Bonus money for looking good and everything working.
Since the stated purpose is off road, the rust shouldn't be a big issue. The missing drive shaft is since as LT7A pointed out, can't verify the front axle condition. Would suck to buy it as a 4 wheel drive off road fun truck only to find out its really a 2WD until you get a new front axle. What shape are the tires in? Those aren't a low cost item and a set of 4 new ones could approach the cost of the truck, depending on final negotiations. |
Re: What is this truck worth?
You can still get a rust free body truck in the desert southwest for less than $2K, $3K gets a nice paint job and late model engine. I would never waste time on any rusty truck - you will spend way more getting the rust repaired and when you are done you just have a patched up rusty truck. My $.02.
