Kill switch installation
I am thinking of doing a kill switch in my truck it's a good investment
and one way to stop theft any kits out there guys and ideas about installing it, has to be a hidden kill switch only u know where it is. |
Re: Kill switch installation
There is a pink wire coming off the ignition switch that goes to the coil. You can cut the wire, run a wire to wherever you put your switch, then back, and you're set. The engine will turn over but will not start. I wired up my 94 like this when I had it.

Do a search for "Kill Switch Anyone?? " from a few years ago, You will find what you need there.

Re: Kill switch installation
Done a couple of different things over the years:
A switch in the ignition wire is the most common,, but also the most easily overcome by thieves because they know,,, it's the most common A switch in the 'START' wire prevents the starter motor solenoid from activating, A switch in the fuel pump wire for more long term unattended: Remove the fuel pump relay in the power center A line lock in the front brake lines with a switch to ignition hot. Every time they step on the brakes it locks the fronts up harder and harder My favorite is a ball-valve in the fuel line just in front of the fuel filter. No fuel to motor even though the pump runs,, and some way to shut the fuel off for filter changes / PSI tests. Just know if they WANT your car / truck,, it's gone! Saw a video where a roll back rolled in and picked up an exotic in a dealership parking lot with dozens of people around. No antitheft deterrent is going to stop the determined. All you can do is make it as difficult and noisy as possible so they move on to the next guys car. Clubs and such devices are no match for a window smash and a pair of bolt cutters BUT it's a dererrant and takes extra time,, Two of my vehicles have wireless motion sensors connected to my SimplySafe home alarm. I can turn them on and off with my cell. Car or trailer moves and I know about it,, home alarm goes off (really pisses my wife of when I pull out for a race at 4AM and forget to disable the specific sensor. Before I get to the corner my phone is calling me to let me know the alarm was activated,,, and I'm in deep doodoo when I get home! LOL |
