clutch questions
 

Hey guys,
Havent posted in a while. But now im back after a few year break from my poor old square bodies.

ive got a 91 GMC 3+3 Square body (legacy!)
gen IV 454 and a SM465 behind it.
2wd dualllllyyy
shes got a slight cam in her, headers thru exhaust and and fancy little intake pipe on her. (like that adds much).


im pleased with her so far... but i SMOKED THE CLUTCH... oops. guess she cant keep up with all these new fancy dodges.

SO.. typically i run ZOOM clutches for my SBC's that are hopped up a little and i have not once had a problem. But im not liking my under 200 dollar options for the BBC... ( i might be missing something). So i decided to be lazy and come here and ask yall for your input.

besides a stockie clutch, and going extreme with a kevlar, have yall been pleased with anything on the market?

Id love some input.

Run a stock clutch. Local roundy-rounder store owner had a 70s 2wd crew cab that he used to pull a pretty bin enclosed trailer to the tracks to sell parts at races. It had a 502 in it, I'm sure it wasn't stock. He used it for years, then I think gas got to be too much. I was building a big block stick truck, and wanted a beefier clutch. He told be bout said truck and used a stock clutch for years and never had any issues. I beat the snot outta the truck I built, and is still going today even after a NASTY big block in it now and mud racing.

Not sure which trans you have (NV4500??) but I was toasting stock GM clutches with a 383 SBC in my 4x4 with a NV4500 (went through OEM + 1 GM replacement and then a NAPA replacement)
Pulling that monster of a trans is NOT fun.

Not sure which you have the 11 or 12" but one of these is cheap compared to pulling that stinking trans.
