Parts truck

I have a chance to pick up a 94 K1500 Suburban as a parts truck for my 89 K2500 ECLB.

I need some front clip and door parts, dash parts and a tach cluster. I think this all will work with no problems. The wheels are the same, So no problem there.

The question are- will the running gear work? Is the 1500 rear end and front diff the same as the 7200GVW 2500? Can the 4l60e be swapped in for the 700r4. Should I want to?

I don't want to pass this up if it works, but don't want to be stuck with a white elephant if I can't use most of the parts.

I plan on owning this truck til I die, so having a complete set of running gear will be a good investment.

Thanks
Steve

Unfortunately the motor and trans won't work inless you use the ECM and harness from the burb. You could use the long block, get a 4 barrel intake and use the existing TBI stuff. But trans won't work as is, again would need burb ECM. The front and rear will work, but might be downgrade if you have the higher GVW. Also the interior is totally different, but could swap it all over, then would just need the rear stuff from a truck.

The engine will work, they are both TBI. The wiring/PCM will stay in the 89. The serpentine brackets on the 94 are aluminum, and are a lot better than the steel ones on your 89.

The rear ends will interchange, however, the 89 will have a semi floating 14 bolt(9.5") and the 94 will have a 10 bolt(8.5")(check ratio)

The front diffs are the same.(check ratio)

Transmission will not swap unless you swap entire wiring harness/PCM from the 94.

Now I understand. So that means the interior stuff will be the same because the change was in 95- right?

You might want to check got transmission controllers. Summit has some for example. I had issues with my 4i60e transmission in my 97 Tahoe and thought about changing to one, but trans shop said it would not help my issue. I had the trans rebuilt and reinstalled. The tech told me that the controllers were for 4i60e installs in vehicles not previously having one and a pcm. Haven't used one but know they are out there for a reason.
