Checking front suspension

I'm starting to get the years of grime off my front suspension on my '60 'burb. The question now is how do I tell what should be replaced while she's apart? I don't plan on going with a newer style front end and I've never driven this so no clue how she handles or what might make noises.

I'm ordering a drop disc brake kit, so the bearings and spindles will be new.

When I jacked the front up and grabbed and moved the wheel assembly everything feels tight and no play was felt, but I'm sure there are boots that will have wear to them. I plan on going back out in a while to spray some more cleaner on everything so I can get more grime off, then I'll lube everything up when I get a chance to see what does and doesn't hold grease.

Any other tips/tricks to check this out are appreciated. With the engine out and the spindles coming off, I'm sure now is the time to put new parts in.

If it were mine I would just pull it all and clean and paint. While it is out put new ball joints in it and take a look at the shaft bushings. Put a new idler arm on it and inner and out tie rod ends. You have a good part of already coming off so now is the time to freshen it all up.
