3spd. Overdrive F.S.

It works good, been converted to a floor shift, missing some of the gizmos. Doesn't have the linkage to shift into overdrive. The electrical thingy is still attached. OLD IRON gave me a brief rundown on the operation and it must be stuck in OD as he said it wouldn't go into gear unless it was. I agree as the shifter thingy is wire tied in position and 1st gear is alot higher then any other stick I've driven. As you can tell I know almost nothing about these other then they are kind of a rare tranny. I don't have the right speedo spud to so no speedo hookup at this time. $75 OBO

Is it the Saginaw transmission or the BW trany? Or is the cast code on the side of the case R10 H1 or R10 Q1? I am interested if it is the Saginaw R10 Q1.

I am very interested, and a quick ID is does the shifter lever(s) cover plate have 4 bolts or seven holding the plate on? If it is 7 it is a saginaw and will have a Q1 or maybe an R1 code. Do you have the overdrive cable from the dash to the trany?

Thanks
Mark

I'll check that out as soon as it quits raining. lol I don't have any cables or anything. I don't think this tranny came with this truck originally. Looks like they just locked it into OD and that's how it runs.

It has the 4 bolt cover so it's a BW tranny? What's BW stand for?

BorgWarner

Leroy

I am looking for the Saginaw 7 bolt cover style. Yours is a 55- 64 style Borg Warner. The Saginaw was used from 65 to 69.
Thanks for checking.

No problem. What's so special about the Saginaw. Is it stronger then the Borg warner. Just wondering, for future reference. Still available if anyone needs it

The later Saginaw has a fully synchroed first gear. They are not very common of the overdrives as this market was winding down by 1965 with the 3 speed automatics comming in. I have a rare Saginaw OD that came from a 69 Chevelle with a 307 but someone dropped and cracked the rear case and solenoid. I have looked everywhere for one for parts or a case without any luck.
