Need suggestion on mufflers

I'm needing to replace my Mufflers (gas packs) as there just too loud !.

1971 350 with headers and exhaust exits in front of rear tires. So need some suggestion on mufflers...something quiet but still sound like it's got balls

Probably not much quieter but pretty cheap! Thrush 17656, 2.5" in & out. Flowmaster knockoffs. Paid $35.00 each.

I have the big long Dynomax on all of my big blocks, both with and without headers. I like them because they're load at WOT but quiet and no drone at idle and cruise.

In fact on the truck with exhaust manifolds and the 402 I don't think you can hear the exhaust sitting at a light. That might be too quiet for you, but it's perfect for me. Then if you get into the throttle the sound wakes right up.

I just replaced my glass packs that exited in front of the rear wheels with Flowmaster 40's behind the rear wheels. Big improvement not sure if it was all the muffler or that I went over the axle and out the sides behind the wheel.
these mufflers seem to be a tighter crisper sound then glass packs, not to mention I can now hold on a conversation at 65mph!

Exactly hat I have^. You might want to run them all the way out the back also. I have a vortec 350 crate motor in my 70 long bed with headers and the thrust mufflers. They are really quiet until you give it some gas, cruising along you can hardly hear them but they get loud when you accelerate.

Actually I have 17659, the only difference is mine are offset on the intake side and exhaust side.

No matter what you get I would consider running them out the back though.

I have owned several cars over the years with a tank like that and factory duels. It shouldn't be a problem, a lot of the modern day cars have the exhaust run around the tank.

My son in law just went down and had the "turbo" muffler the shop stocked installed. It sounds good and not too loud and not too pricey.

I enjoy my spin techs. Tame at idle and wild at full throttle.

DynoMax turbo mufflers. 20" case Hemi if you want extra quiet. What I have on my Jimmy and bought for my short bed as well.

I'd like to run them out but for now I'm just dumping them, I might even try your offset ones. I don't have much clearance on my elec. fuel pump maybe the offset would help.

I have pretty generic turbo mufflers on my truck as well - Xlerator is the brand, I think the Big Max series, and they sound good. My 250 has dual headers and true dual exhaust, 2.5" pipe to 45*s out behind the tires. Sounds really, really good - have had more than one person make a comment that it doesn't even sound like a six-cylinder.

Not the cheapest but I loved my Porter mufflers I had on my 71. They had a great old school sound but quieted right down on the highway. Thats what I plan to put on my TA when I redo its exhaust.
