New engine questions
I have been weighing the options for engines between rebuild or crate and it just seems that crate is the way to go.
I am looking at an engine from summit and have some questions about it. https://m.summitracing.com/parts/nal...53/none/images Have any of you used this engine? Any feedback? Also I have a craving for some good power. I'm not wanting a lot but noticeable from stock. My question is, I have a chevy bowtie intake 14096242 http://m.ebay.com/itm/Mercruiser-5-7...257Ciid%253A20 What would be a good cam to mate with this intake to maximize hp and what could I expect to get out of this setup ? The reason I ask about this intake is because I have it and if I can get reasonably more than stock with a good cam then I would like to use it. If it won't gain much, I don't want to spend that much extra for a new cam and new intake because I'm on a tight budget Would I be better off just putting my stock parts on and leaving this engine in stock configuration? |

Re: New engine questions
I hate to sound like an azz but if you want HP you bought the wrong engine. With the old style heads and low compression it will never be a power house. I'm not saying it's not a good motor, just that it will never win any trophies at the tract.
