Does this work? I have Comp Cam 1.5 roller rocker arms, going to use a stock alternator bracket and the tall valve covers dont work with it. Will short style aluminum finned covers work with my rocker arms?

Depending on the height of the rocker nut these will usually fit with special double thick gaskets from Summit for just this purpose.

Rocker nut sits low inside the arm.

Depending on the lift of the cam and design of the rocker arm the outer edges of the rocker might hit the curve at the top of valve cover. That thick gasket will usually cure that problem too.

So, roller "tipped" rockers not roller rockers..

If these are the comp stamped steel ones.. (sounds like they are)you should have no issue..

Comp and others make narrow body alum full roller rockers just for installs like this,, or top bolt valve covers..
full roller rockers with fulcrum rollers use poly locks that are taller than the rocker body..

I just joined this forum because I bought a 1968 K20 yesterday. This is my first post.

I had a similar issue when using poly-locks with the LT-1 valve covers on my 1970 Z-28.

The roller tipped rockers did not pose a clearance problem, but the poly locks interfered with the cast oil drippers on the valve covers even with the double-thick gaskets.

I used Crower poly locks which solved my problem. They have a smaller nut.

^^^ Welcome to the board! And thanks for that good info in your first post. I have those valve covers on my 327 with stamped 1.5:1 roller tips, but haven't run the engine yet. I may need to know this.

I've run the cast Comp Magnum roller tip rockers on my Jimmy with LT-1 cast valve covers with integral droppers since '89. Anything with the compression "lock nut" shouldn't have any issues, only poly locks. And you can get lower profile poly locks and I think Crower is the source as mentioned above.

As a "sanity check", pull the coil wire off then push and hold a valve cover in place on the head (unbolted) while a buddy bumps the engine over. You'll find out for sure if there is clearance or not.

Don't know if this helps, on late model heads (center bolt) Comp Cams Magnum Rollers fit under the stock valve covers with .500" lift cam.
