Plum Crazy C10 from a land far away
Hi Guys
Im doing a frame off on my 67 SWB stepside C10 here in the UAE and wanted to share my journey so far but first, here are my other ladies 68 Chevelle LQ4/4L80E in BMW/Audi Java Green http://imageshack.com/a/img540/4060/mNij4K.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img922/9502/wqckXW.jpg 69 Chevelle, 350/700R4 in BMW Atlantis Blue http://imageshack.com/a/img921/6007/bnuU0j.jpg 72 Vette, Edelbrock 350 Pro-flow EFI crate/TH400 http://imageshack.com/a/img540/7034/PKlja8.jpg 83 BMW 633CSi http://imageshack.com/a/img924/7435/UNwQq6.jpg 92 Mercedes SL300-24 http://imageshack.com/a/img923/7397/CAhWyl.jpg 98 BMW 750iL V12 http://imageshack.com/a/img924/2721/NAgFIx.jpg So here is the latest addition to the family, 67 SWB stepside C10 Here is the Ebay Ad (later to find out, its the understatement of the century) http://imageshack.com/a/img922/4263/aNAv0E.jpg Ebay Auction Pics http://imageshack.com/a/img923/8412/DDrLch.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img924/306/pMGE0o.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img923/5589/yUIzAu.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img923/5112/lrZgBJ.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img922/9499/PS76yO.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img924/9454/MgHAsy.jpg 45 days later, it arrived to my part of the world only to find out the engine is jammed, cracked windshield and the passenger side hood hinge is so bent the hood closes sideways. Managed to free the engine and get it running, installed a CS144 140Amp alternator, my spare holley double pumper carb, electric fans and a radiator. Parked it at home till the 69 Chevelle finished its turn at restoration....and thats where the real fun starts Front clip comes out http://imageshack.com/a/img923/8376/E4qyaa.jpg Remove the cracked windshield to find this nasty surprise http://imageshack.com/a/img923/9215/RXdTla.jpg Both rockers were goners, lucky i ordered inners and outers when i shipped the car http://imageshack.com/a/img923/1987/XqLPl8.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img923/8650/LPOX6L.jpg Now the fun part where you wonder what the PO was smoking on... Instead of the 350, its a 305 http://imageshack.com/a/img923/8136/mRrrHT.jpg The engine stands were from a I6 in V8 position without the bottom bolts so the whole engine weight was resting on the top bolts Thats the manual tranny crossmember, instead of removing it, PO just quickly cut through it http://imageshack.com/a/img923/4662/ikdq7J.jpg Engine/tranny out http://imageshack.com/a/img922/6591/t58BLq.jpg Removed the cabin to find this surprise, PO welded the tranny crossmember instead of bolting it.....crooked! http://imageshack.com/a/img924/8022/L9Etmn.jpg Escorting the tow truck back from the sandblaster http://imageshack.com/a/img924/619/5TXfNK.jpg Who needs a fancy AC system when you can have fresh air! http://imageshack.com/a/img924/3880/Etyyro.jpg Everything from the cabin onwards was primed to prevent further rust while new sheet metal was ordered http://imageshack.com/a/img922/4563/4r9qtK.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img924/8309/GECbuB.jpg Notice the pattern here? PO welded everything rather than bolt it...and its not even good welds! Here is how the frame sits waiting for its turn to be sandblasted http://imageshack.com/a/img924/2168/HgQsNI.jpg Iv chosen plum crazy purple as the color and anything chrome will either be painted matte black or matte gray...still havent decided |

What is the hourly shop rate in Abu Dhabi? You sure are taking on a labor of love there.

Update time, took the day off work and drove about 3 hours to pick this up. State side people aren't familiar with it, its a '06 Chevy Lumina SS which would be the predecessor to the Pontiac G8 you guys got. Owner got too many fines and was impounded and wanted to get rid of it, picked it up and towed it back to Abu Dhabi for $1109 and picked up a decent cam for $217 '06 Lumina LS1/4L65E http://imageshack.com/a/img921/8450/YxNXpT.jpg Saw this at the local DMV while i was picking up the donor car http://imageshack.com/a/img923/1972/aEPzl3.jpg Sandblasted and painted matte black, waiting on the bed mount brackets to arrive http://imageshack.com/a/img922/396/Dms0Te.jpg Being primed to prevent further rust http://imageshack.com/a/img923/2898/mG310v.jpg The cam specs, nothing too wild http://imageshack.com/a/img924/9680/9V5jJ4.png Plan is a bit of new and old.....Carbed LS1/TH350 BRING OUT THE PITCH FORKS!! A CARBED LS?! |

Update time:
Ordered a windshield from Summit, AMD brand, to be delivered to my NY forwarding address to be shipped over to me. Here is how it arrived http://imageshack.com/a/img924/2613/ssSxap.jpg Lucky, they reimbursed me and i purchased another one and shipped it directly through summit for $800!! Installed the CPP brake kit with 2" lowering spindles http://imageshack.com/a/img923/5602/ebzYzb.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img923/6656/r1T3pM.jpg Filled out the heater holes to give it a smoother firewall http://imageshack.com/a/img924/7536/WS32uG.jpg And extra sheetmetal to give it the same proportional look http://imageshack.com/a/img922/8793/9xgteM.jpg Cab all done http://imageshack.com/a/img923/2946/oLQI3W.jpg Cab mated back to the frame with energy suspension bushes http://imageshack.com/a/img923/9331/JLUyz7.jpg Fender rust being cut out and repalced with sheetmetal http://imageshack.com/a/img923/2307/T1AdPY.jpg |
Re: Plum Crazy C10 from a land far away
Been awhile since i updated so here it goes
http://imageshack.com/a/img923/5579/IzLyMv.jpg I had to make the bed locally from sheet metal since shipping charges were way too high http://imageshack.com/a/img923/4456/0KjjEW.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img924/8310/Ox5hKQ.jpg Towed it and parked it for the summer http://imageshack.com/a/img923/1121/oBhLay.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img922/1634/rISt6F.jpg One big happy family! http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...923/pzlCJk.jpg After the summer heat went down, i dropped the engine in http://imageshack.com/a/img923/5466/fDI8QI.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img924/7250/ScLOWI.jpg I bought seats from 2004-2009 Cadillac SRX, cut the mounting points and fabbed my own adapters then drilled holes in the cabin. I sent the seats to the interior shop to do them up again while waiting for my hushmats to arrive |

Re: Plum Crazy C10 from a land far away
Holy thread revival!
Its been awhile and here is what happened since Got some goodmark bedstrips since the previous ones where trashed https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/4385/1zULlv.jpg Did the bed wood locally since it was much cheaper here https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/6166/MJD8VI.jpg Finally got it tested/insured and registered and completely road legal! What a journey! https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/2669/Vc10s8.jpg Wasnt really feeling the Boyd Codington wheels so I went back to the torq thrust wheels https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/3653/aaxWIK.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/3180/kdtazd.jpg Now, I have to sort the usual small niggles and stuff and lower it. Thats about it for now |
Re: Plum Crazy C10 from a land far away
