Help Me With this Wiper Delay Circuit
After searching for a wiper delay for my Panel I came across this schematic. I like to tinker with electronics, so I am going to build one and see how it works. From what I read, this should give an adjustable wiper delay from 1 to 10 seconds.
Even better, I dug around in the garage and found most of the parts I need. Here is where you electronically inclined guys can help. I need to figure out the smallest way to lay out the components on a circuit bread board. Here is the schematic: http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/a...psrbcqpgsy.jpg Built exactly like this will require a different wiper switch than stock, but it would be pretty easy to get the stock switch to turn on a relay to power this circuit... |
Re: Help Me With this Wiper Delay Circuit
I can't help you with your electronics project and while I am all about building things yourself, it is hard to beat these already made wiper delays.

Re: Help Me With this Wiper Delay Circuit
Thanks for the reply Capitainfab. I didn't know there was already one available. If the one I build doesn't work, I may go that way.

Re: Help Me With this Wiper Delay Circuit
Buy one. Pull the pot/switch off the board and extend it with wires to the dash mount the rest under.

Re: Help Me With this Wiper Delay Circuit
I have two of the ones sold here on the board. One is installed and works great, the other is waiting on my lazy but to install it.

Re: Help Me With this Wiper Delay Circuit
I have two also and they work great. You can get spoiled quick by them.

Installed mine a year ago. Really like it as well

Re: Help Me With this Wiper Delay Circuit
Thanks got the replies guys!
I got mine build, but when it didn't work, I realized that one of the transistors I bought isn't what the guy said it was, so back to Frys. The thing I really like is how tiny the circuit is. http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/a...psolc5wvge.jpg http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps5d4uxzjn.jpg |
Re: Help Me With this Wiper Delay Circuit
SUCCESS!! I got this working and it works very well!
Delay is adjustable from 1-1/2 seconds to 55 seconds. The pink wire goes to power, and the white wire goes to a relay to switch ground on the wiper motor. http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/a...psjjhfojff.jpg http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/a...psayibmqbf.jpg http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/a...psjjhfojff.jpg |
Re: Help Me With this Wiper Delay Circuit
That's good to hear that you got it to work.
When in delay mode, do the wiper arms always stop in the park position or do the just stop wherever? |
Re: Help Me With this Wiper Delay Circuit
Yes, the wipers park every time.
thanks! I will try to get a video of them working later this week... |
Re: Help Me With this Wiper Delay Circuit
Here is a video of it working. It parks every time, and the delay if from basically none, to about 55 seconds...

Re: Help Me With this Wiper Delay Circuit
This may only work with a single speed wiper, Im not sure. The cool thing is that there is still only 1 control for wipers...

Re: Help Me With this Wiper Delay Circuit
Looks like it works good. Did you replace the original wiper switch with the delay pot?
|
Re: Help Me With this Wiper Delay Circuit
Yup, Replaced original switch.
Thanks!!! Its a real good feeling making something that worked out so great! |
Re: Help Me With this Wiper Delay Circuit
thats cool! you going to share the parts list?
