Same thing happens to my dad olds 88 every few years. Take a hose and spray off the front of the radiator. It always seems to get clogged with crap every few years. You might have to disassemble part of the shroud. Not hard to do. You will be amazed at the crap that will come out.

thanks but thought of that first ,I havta do that on a regular basis because of the trees blowing leaves in the carport

Are your fans running

Bryan68custom 10-16-2003 11:22 PM

yes but only with the air on i couldnt find at what temp. they are supposed too come on in my manual

Longhorn Man 10-16-2003 11:24 PM

They should be coming on around 200 or so, test the sensor in the rad, I think in the lower part.

rustyold72 10-16-2003 11:24 PM

Sounds like one of the fan relays has died, they're supposed to come on at a preset temp, whether or not the A/C is on
IIRC the temp is around 225*

I'll check it out more sunday it getting dark earlier now barely had time to do the thermostat this evening my 68 is residing in her parking spot

Longhorn Man 10-17-2003 12:00 AM

The relay would be a pretty good place to look too, could just swap it out with the A/C relay and turn on the A/C and see if the fan kicks on.
