1970 disk conversion.
 

I am buying everything I need for a disk conversion on my 1970 4x4 but just don't know what I am looking at as far as the spindles go, anyone got pics of 4x4 spindles so I know what I am looking at? I am also getting the proportion valve, and backing plate, and calipers, do I need anything else other than rotors and pads? Advice welcomed.

That link is for 2wd, not 4x4.

You better do your research before you tear into it. There are some threads here on the subject, and it's not as easy as changing spindles. The easiest way to make the change is with a 71, 72 axle.

Of curse you still need to change master cylinder, proportioning valve, etc.

I also have a K10 with a 70 drum brake axle. I had looked into what was needed to do the conversion and found that 70 and 71 axle shafts were shorter and had smaller u-joints than 72 and up D44 axles, so for my truck I would need parts from 71 to do the change over to disks.

I used it to reference the parts differences between years of manufacture. If I decide to do it I will look for an axle out of a 72-78 and swap the entire thing so I get the beefier shafts, disks, and still be able to run with a D44.

Yep, get a later model axle and ditch the 1970 aardvark. First year open knuckle last year of drum. I had trouble finding a 44 doner that was decent. I ended up putting in a 60. But you have options galore, and trying to part it into a disc is the least desirable option. You should check out the 4x4 forum here. Lot's on info on conversions.
