SPID Flaw
So I was at the Mecum auction in Kansas City today. There must be an issue with the spid labels in the short bed trucks only. In every short bed the label had come apart right in the area where the wheelbase is listed. And on others the spid was gone. Long beds were all intact. Must have been a production or supplier issue on the short beds only.

No, I think it's much more simple than that. Previous owners clearly scratched out that annoying 115 out of sheer embarrassment. ;)

That just proofs Longbeds are just better overall quality, even down to the smallest details!!

No wonder they get out of my way in the LONGHORN, that sin way gets flattened right out!

Re: SPID Flaw
Or, it was a shortened long bed and hiding the info....(cynical thoughts)

That's why I love this site. Most are true enthusiasts. Not con-man opportunists.
Go long or go home I say Lol. Not that I wouldn't take a short box if it came along just would have to say it's the "Wife's" truck lol. |
Re: SPID Flaw
Good Fun! Certainly need to do your homework before buying a vehicle at an auction.

Re: SPID Flaw
This is very funny but sad too. The trucks are beautiful in all the different wheelbases. But some like the 115 only and some builders are wanting the big bucks....buyer beware..... if they're done right nothing is wrong with a shortened truck but it's wrong to try and sell as original.

Re: SPID Flaw
They're just preparing the SPID for when they lengthen them into Longhorns.

Re: SPID Flaw
The '71 "factory" GMC short bed w/402 and with the ultra rare 127" wheelbase sticker sold for 25K.

Re: SPID Flaw
Ya know, it's funny. alot praise the swb, alot praise the long horn. but for some reason they don't think much for the lwb trucks. I personally like the lwb truck because I use it alot for your standard lumber lengths and such...

Re: SPID Flaw
Does Mecum require that sellers divulge an altered vehicle prior to sale or are they just there to sell a vehicle whether it's "real" or not?
As fare as preferences go, I've owned stock long and shortbeds and the longbeds ride so much more comfortably. I'm getting to be an old man and I now appreciate the Caddy-like ride my C/20 has over the rocking horse ride of my old K/10 shorty. |
