Fuel Gauge Full.

My fuel gauge was staying at the 3 oclock and not doing anything.I checked my wiring and noticed the wire going to the sending unit had been cut by the PO. I just reconnected it. It seems to be working now. My only concern is that when i fill it up as i did as soon as i got it working, it marks full a bit passed the full indicater. Is this normal or is there maybe a ground issue or something else. If i check the power at the sending unit my gauge goes down to between empty and 1/4 of a tank.

A little past full like that (If tank is full) is normal. When they're open (or shorted, I can never remember which is which) they go all the way to 3PM.

Mine is a shortbed stepside. Since it is past the full like that would empty mark just passed empty as well?

Fill up a 5 gallon can of gas, then drive 'till you run out. Then you'll know where the gas gauge says when it's empty. I do this with every car or truck I get just for peace of mind.
