Navigation System Install Suggestions
Hello,
The prior owner of my 64 C-10 has cut the dash to install an Alpine DIN radio. An oversized aluminum sheet has been used to cover any gaps between the radio and the cut dash. I cannot stand the aluminum. It looks tacky and I want to get rid of it. I am debating replacing the Alpine unit with a Navigation system (i.e., cut the opening even more); or finding a nice black cover that is not oversized that looks neat. I do not have a problem losing the ash tray since I do not smoke. I am assuming it would have to go since I would think at least a 4 inch high opening would be needed. If I go the Navigation system route, what is the best tool to use to make the cuts? Would you have enough control using a cutting wheel to make neat cuts? Eddie |

Air tool with a small cutoff disc, or Dremel with a disc would give you the best control. Or a plasma cutter if you have surgeon hands :)

I also would drill the corners, another option is an air saw...you got to control them tho

Okay Gents; thank you much.
I do have a Dremel tool. So it sounds like it would be a good time to put it to use. Eddie |
