Bench seat options for over 6 feet tall?

After having many of these Squares I just remember the only thing I really dislike, is the SEAT, I sit to high in the cab.
I am about 6' 3" or used to be, and my head is almost to the ceiling of the truck and need to duck when getting out.
What are you taller truckers using for bench seats, for extra head and leg room.
Thanks

I put caviler seats in my 74 regular cab, and my sister's bf liked it. He is 6'4" or taller, but he has long legs.

On my F100 project i am going for a custom bench. I will bend my own tube, bead roll sheet for the backing, and use high density foam. This should make the bench less then 4 inches thick.

The 90"s style seat will give you more room. Here's my truck with a 90's bench, it was in there from the PO.
I since then went back to the stock seat, but I'm not over 6' either.

them seats seem to hold up really well too. i daily drive a 1990 with that exact seat and color, 220,000 miles and the seat looks like brand new too

They do seem to hold up. I think it maybe because they sewed the fabric to the foam. Unlike the 73-87 seats, the cover lays over & on top the foam. The friction from sliding in and out, over time just took a toll of the cover.

Thanks, that looks like the kind of room I am looking for.
Is that a center console near the driver side?

Thanks, that is what I may do. I have been toying with that idea because I would like to have seats for 3 but an arm rest and cup holder when alone or without the 3rd person.

The armrest is closer to the driver.

I am 6'2" and have no trouble getting in and out of my 83 C20 with stock bench seat. I had the seat rebuilt with denser and thicker foam so the seat is higher than stock height, but I can still enter/exit wearing a baseball cap (but not a 10 gallon cowboy hat.)

I plan to eventually install a pair of 2001 Chrysler Sebring seats I have. They have integral seat belts, so you can avoid the seat belt issues with old square body trucks. Chrysler Sebring convertible seats prior to 2001 have an ignition interlock feature, so I would stay away from those.

The best seats I have owned were Recaro seats (not Recaro racing seats.) They are about $1200 per seat now (plus shipping and sliders) and you provide the mounting, and can easily go up to $4,000 and more - so not easy or cheap but worth the price if you have the $$$ to spare.

Here are some links to the Chrysler seats and some "cheap" Recaro seats

I am the guy who always have to buy the extra long sleeve shirts and have the long upper body.
I also have the Chrysler seats in my suburban they were in there for at least 5 years now and they work great, but I don't want buckets in a my single cab.
I think this is going to be very pricey so I may take a couple evening upholstery classes, build my own seat and give it a shot, as I prefer leather and alredy have an industrial sewing machine. lol

Yes, but that won't work for me.

Why not just spring $3-$10K for Recaros?

You are so funny. There is no way I will consider spending that kind of money on ONE seat. There are some people who do it and that's great, but it's not for me.
Now toward my kids or their education, YES all day long!!!!

Re: Bench seat options for over 6 feet tall?

If I'm not mistaken depending on the year the seats have different thicknesses. My 81' c10 bench sits much higher than my 87' c20 or my 86' burb. Also K series and C series have slightly different floors and that might have something to do with it because of the extra clearance for the transfer case.

Thanks, that is good to know for the future.
I had a spare 78 seat frame overhead, so it's getting cut up to build one to fit my needs.

Re: Bench seat options for over 6 feet tall?

I'm doing the same with a seat from an 82'. My seat sits to high in my 81' because the steering column doesn't tilt and the seat base is to high for me. I'm chopping the base by 2" with a slight rearward tilt and I'm tinkering with a fold down center console but the hog leg shifter overhangs the seat so I'm not sure how it's going to work out when it's done.

Do those 90s style seats bolt directly into the square body floor holes? Or was there a little fab work that went into getting the newer style seat in?

6'3", standard bench seat. It was a lot more comfortable once I replaced the steering wheel with a flat (no dish) aftermarket.

For my 90's seat that was put in from the previous owner. They welded the 81-87 tracks to the bottom of the seat, so it would bolt right up to the cab floor. So I would assume then, that the new truck seat tracks will not bolt right up.
