best bang for buck

Working on my 69 panel. Low to no budget. LOL Wondering what will give me best bang for buck handling wise. Not looking to pull 1 g or nothing ,just improve handling and ride some.

Removed some front end weight ,figure has to help. Battery in rear, aluminum heads and intake(lot on 454 ). dis brakes and aluminum wheels soon. Us drag racers hate weight, especially rotating weight.

How about moving the engine/trans as low and as far back as possible?? I did on m y 5.3 ls install and could tell the difference. Watch your driveline angles if you do lower and go back. Frame rails have multiple holes for trans crossmember location. Shorten driveshaft when done? Possibly. Move the auto shift linkage pivot bracket on the frame?? Most likely as i had to! 2-3 inches is a lot of weight transfer.

Sway bars from a 73 up Chevy or Gmc 3/4 or 1 ton. Of you are still at stock height cut about a half of a coil up front and some blocks in the rear.
That could be done for a little over $100 bucks or so and some time.

Sway bar idea is good.Did similar with Z/28's when I bought new one and stole bars off older one that had bigger one. Got to love Chevy's swapablity.
Might as well add urethane bushiungs while there.

As for springs they are HD springs.Cost $7 rear and $5 extra when truck was bought in 69. According to order sheet. Slim chance they have worn any in 48 years.LMAO
