I am thinking 4 and a half inches.

Getting ready to chop mine, you have any tips or tricks. Was going to to a 3 inch chop, but I think I'm going to go 4.

Boy, I don't know about tips or tricks, there are a zillion of them. I know that I z cut the roof in lengthening it this time and that worked much better. I am doing mine quite different in that I removed the whole inner rear panel, drilled out all the spot welds. That way I have total access. I am changing the size of the center window quite a bit so this was a big help. I lengthened the top half as far and then racked the windshield posts the rest of the way. The top flows much nicer that way.

One thing is to drill out the spot welds removing the gutter, chop the top and then cut the gutter to length and weld it back in.

When raking the posts I heated and bend them instead of pie cutting them, that worked awesome!

These are all just my way to do it, outside of the gutters, that is a great tip I wish I had used in the past. But they come out so easy it's crazy. Instead of fighting them, or removing them all together like I did my truck the first time. That is not a good idea as water comes in like crazy when you open the door and it dumps on your head the water that is sitting on top of the door.

That is a good plan. Much more likely to result in success than jumping into the deep end then trying to figure out how to doggie paddle. :lol:

Mine is chopped 4 inches at the back window and that looks close to what it is.

Don't cut 4 inches out of the front posts to start though. That may be because I leaned my windshield posts back rather than stretch the top but my front cut was a lot less than the back cut. Martinsr may have some input on that part that will help.

I'm gong to stretch the new cab I am building and am going to use the same method to lengthen the cab and am seriously thinking about not leaning the posts this time as the top door frames are a bear to deal with when you do.
