Nice truck, but there is a hick-up in description
See if you can find it......Ha! Someone along the way, who knows, has the wrong idea. In fairness, I think I'll send them a message.

"Garage kept since new" I have a hard time believing that one.

Re: Nice truck, but there is a hick-up in description
maybe that they say it is in original condition....and has just been repainted and new upholstery?

Original Factory "chrome" rally wheels.
Certainly is a nice truck. |
Re: Nice truck, but there is a hick-up in description
57k original miles since new
|
Re: Nice truck, but there is a hick-up in description
Yeah, but that "original" business is often used loosely anyway. Technically, original is what, battery replaced, 2K miles & still resembles how it came off the floor? I can think of two. One belongs to a board member. Anyway, I've been through SS-tim 101, and there's a "glaring" problem. Either they know it and perhaps using certain wording by their description, or more likely, they don't know what they're selling, meaning a buyer may not recognize it either.
Edit: Come to think of it, I believe there are two problems with the same thing. The other may be a simple error. |

Looks like the wrong mirrors.

Someone will see it. The fenders provide a clue. This old man is off to bed. |
Re: Nice truck, but there is a hick-up in description
Maybe its just the lighting but to me the drivers door looks a shade or two lighter than the rest of the truck.... I'd be willing to bet that there is a ton of parts right out of the LMC catalog on that truck... All in all a pretty nice truck even if the price is getting pretty steep.

Re: Nice truck, but there is a hick-up in description
I agree with the paint issue..it appears to be several different shades

Re: Nice truck, but there is a hick-up in description
The side marker lenses are red front and rear, my front are yellow. ?

Re: Nice truck, but there is a hick-up in description

Re: Nice truck, but there is a hick-up in description
This is about the 90th thread on a nice truck offered by a dealer who lists a truck with an inaccurate description as if they know anything more about the truck someone else built than what they paid and how much they want. Isn't that the way for about any dealer? It spent it's whole life in neighboring Georgia and being sold by a Florida dealer. Big deal. Dealers' possession doesn't count as ownership. If that was true then there is no such thing as an original owner. It's a nice truck with a "classic" dealer description. You guys are experts thanks to what you have learned from the knowledgeable few on this site. No need to make a big deal over this truck. We know how dealers are. If you like it, look it over, see through the BS, and either you want it or not. But, we don't do truck bashing here, right? You've flexed your knowledge muscles now relax. It's a decent truck, either you like it or you don't. Bidders seem to like it. Hopefully based on the truck itself and not the dealer's misleading words.

Re: Nice truck, but there is a hick-up in description
You don't see the Chevy version of a c10 with leaf springs very often.
|
Re: Nice truck, but there is a hick-up in description
Isn't the vin number for a GMC and not a Chevy?
|
Re: Nice truck, but there is a hick-up in description
I'd be much more concerned with the mileage claim. That's a '67 instument cluster. Let's assume that the odometer isn't original to the vehicle.

Re: Nice truck, but there is a hick-up in description
Flush mounted marker lights !

Re: Nice truck, but there is a hick-up in description
I love these threads. I am amazed at the level of knowledge of the details here.

Re: Nice truck, but there is a hick-up in description
The other day I saw an add for a 68, 454/400th, 67k miles, all original survivor. :smoke: :lol:

Gear shift indicator housing is incorrect for '72. I can't tell if the mirror is mounted on the windshield or above it, '72 would be mounted on the windshield. I don't call this bashing, I call it an informational and learning thread.... If the Mods for this forum disagree they can close it. I would be proud to drive it in any case..... LockDoc |
Re: Nice truck, but there is a hick-up in description
Nice restoration, but no where near factory original with only 57k. As mentioned 6cyl vin with a late model 350, fenders and hood are off, you can even see the original green paint on the underside of the hood. Wrong instrument cluster for a 72. Brake booster swapped. Wrong rally rims. Turbo 350 pan would have had a drain plug in 72. I saw a lot more than that.

Re: Nice truck, but there is a hick-up in description
I don't think this is truck bashing and I actually greatly appreciate a thread like this. I am looking to buy a 67-72 C10 in Florida and have considered going to see this one several times since it is about 2 hours from me and it has been on ebay quite a while. However, something never sat right with me about it and I have not gone to see it (but I would have never spotted all the things you guys pointed out because I just don't have the knowledge yet). I think I will be leaving this one alone.
