weight savings after SBC and IFS swap

I know this is a very vague question but has anyone ever weighed there truck after an sbc swap and front end swap? The reason being is that I am trying to estimate how much weight I cut off this thing.

Im running an aluminum headed SBC with a no limit tubular coilover IFS. (similar to mustang 2) TH350 transmission and 12 bolt out of a chevelle.

Thank you,

You probably won't be saving any to be quite honest.

Yes, the 216/235 is a heavy beast. With that said, A small block is about 30-40 lbs lighter. With your aluminum heads, you may save another 20-30 lbs. But, are you running power steering, A/C, larger radiator? Those things all add weight, not to mention the TH350 full of fluid is heavier than a manual 3 speed or 4 speed trans.

As far as the suspension goes, the IFS is probably a little heavier. But, most of the weight is unsprung weight so should have little bearing on your spring rate.

Truth be told I'd have to believe that it is minimal. By that I mean within 100 to 150 lbs.

Curb weight on a 51 3100 reads out at 3285 and you could run yours across the scales with half or more of a tank of gas and hit pretty close.

SBC & 4 Speed manual 1 Ton - Dual
Wood Rack with 2 Adults - 5600 Lbs .. according to Scale - which I thought was a Lot .
Till I saw a Tag for 8800 G.V.W . . so Haul 3200 lbs - Pretty Heavy 1 Ton ..Haulage ?

Makes Me wonder , If this Truck had a 265 - 6 Cly. in it ..

Deduct ( 5 lbs for Porting ) - Manifold & Heads . :mm:

3-4 Lbs for the - Super Cool Alu. Water Pump .

4 Lbs Total for all - Alu. Pulley's

Not Least of all - 36 Lbs for using Centerline Racing Wheels & Right Tire Choice . . Rolling Weight

Another 12 Lbs - rolling weight - moving to 2 Pc. Rotors

Not Counting ( Alu. Brackets , Lightweight Starter & Battery ) - which could get You 24 lbs easy ..

62 Lbs from above = another 86 Lbs -
Then there is the Lightweight , but Stronger - Driveshaft ! ( 11 lbs ) - Now total 96 Lbs :mm:

I'd just go to the local truck scale and weigh it. They will usually let you roll across the truck scale at a truck stop and read the weight for free if you don't want a certified printout. Printouts cost between 5 and 7 bucks around here but are accepted no questions by the dot.
