Is there a KEY LOCK tail gate for these trucks ?

I'm wanting to install a bed cover and want a lockable tail gate.
Anything out there or home made devices ?

Dunno about a tailgate lock but since a soft cover offers little security, are you going with a hard (fiberglass) tonneau?
The lip usually extends down over the top of the tailgate, and with the tonneau locked, the tailgate can't be opened. Just a thought.

An innovative person that knew how to weld could probably make something work.

*What I plan to do on my stepside is just put padlocks through one or both of my tailgate chains.

I figure it the same as Stocker. Why would you need a locking handle on the tailgate? I've had my '95 Suburban for about 2 1/2 years and it never occurred to me the tailgate even has a locking handle. You have to pop the hatch inside to open that to open the tailgate. I think when you use the key in the tailgate it pops the hatch to allow the tailgate to open. It may not actuate a lock at all.

Get one of the handle relocator kits, and have the handle on the inside.

I suppose I could fiqure out how to lock the cover to the tailgate.
The reason I was looking to lock the tailgate independent from cover
so I could access bed without unlocking and lifting cover unlatch gate etc etc.
There are devices avaiable for newer trucks.

My dad's GMC has such a tailgate as you desire. I'll bet a guy could get such a lock and its arms from a junked truck and figure out a way to put it inside his own tailgate.

To my point in my earlier post..... what type of cover are you thinking of getting? If it's a secure lockable weathertight hard cover, you may need to lift it anyway, in order to open the tailgate.

There's a tailgate lock for newer Toyota trucks (probably may others but I only know about the Toyota ones) called Pop-N-Lock or something like that. Quite a few buyers have been less than satisfied with them.

There is a way to do it. Mine will not open even with a crow bar.

Lets see if you can figure this one out. Its pretty simple my man...

Ok, I just did not have a picture for you. As I said real simple, a tap and nice stainless bolt is all that is needed.

There is now way if I put 2 of these in that anyone could break into this with a nice locking canopy or tonneau cover with out going through some major effort. I am in the process of figuring out a theft deterant system that would be equally as difficult to get through.
