How tall of tires will fit on stock 2001 1/2 ton 4wd
 

I have owned this 2001 for a little over a year and it is now due for tires. What size will clear without issues? I have been looking at some newer take offs as I hate the wheels that are on it.

I ran 285s on my 99 with no issues..except when tires were new and hitting a off balance hole while turning it would rub the frame ever so slighty..once the tires got a little wear it was no longer a issue..I did have the front leveling kit on it as well..
I'm running 285s on my 13 as well with a leveling kit..no rubbing issues on it..
So I'd think anything smaller would never be a issue

I am looking at 265/70/17s. The math says they are 31.5 tall

265/70R17 or 265/75R16 should be stock size for a 4WD. I like 285s on stock trucks myself.

Should be equivalent/same size to the originals.

Mine 2wd had 265/70/18 (33.5") on it when i bought it. no rubs at all.

It's dropped a lot now.
